A leading edge development opportunity has become available to incorporate specialist gut modelling expertise into CHAIN Biotechnology’s technology platform, which delivers therapeutics directly to the gut, reducing time to market for a range of novel live biotherapeutics. The position is a 12-months fixed term contract and will test the effects of a biotherapeutic Clostridium in gut model systems. The role will be based in two locations: the University of Reading and CHAIN’s laboratory in Nottingham. The budget has an allocation to cover the cost of travel/accommodation to go between both sites.

About KTP:
This position forms part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK. You will play a vital role by completing the remaining 12 months of this key strategic commercial project.
The successful candidate must possess:
• MSc or PhD in a relevant biological area such as microbiology
• Understanding of In Vitro determinants of gut microbiology
• Practical microbiology lab experience
• Aseptic technique experience
• Critical analysis & interpretation of data
Essential skills we require as a minimum:
• Ability to plan and organise own workload
• Ability and desire to work independently in the lab without supervision with care and attention with biological specimens
• Awareness and ability for commitment and completion
• Aptitude and attributes to succeed in a small company environment
• Ability to interact within an industrial environment and associated university resources
• Conscientious, confident approach demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm
