We are seeking to appoint an experienced BABCP accredited clinician to provide support for our Adult IAPT Mental Health programmes delivering high quality, postgraduate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programmes. The post will involve teaching, clinical supervision, marking and contribution to the development of the programmes. Our programmes include training for clinicians who work with adults and CYP and there will be the opportunity to work across both programmes.

The post will involve planning, organising and contributing to teaching programmes, supporting other staff, liaising with external and internal stakeholders, clinical supervision, assessment of students, and helping develop new and existing programmes.

The post can be taken up as a secondment or University contract and is fixed term for three years.  The post holder will join a supportive and passionate team working in a research active School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences. This role offers a wide range of opportunities to develop your career and to work at the cutting edge of linking theory, research, teaching and clinical practice.

​​​​​​​Main duties and responsibilities

  1. To deliver teaching
  2. To mark and moderate students’ coursework, in-class tests, and therapy recordings according to standardised measures
  3. To contribute to the development of the programme
  4. To provide supervision as part of the Postgraduate Diploma programme

Please see the job description for more detail of the main duties and responsibilities.  The post will have limited day to day supervision and the responsible person is expected to make decisions, and identify issues and respond appropriately.

You will have:

  1. Excellent clinical skills reflected in an ability to engage with clients and to link the science and practice of evidence-based psychological interventions.
  2. Excellent supervisor skills demonstrated by feedback from those previously supervised.
  3. Excellent teaching skills demonstrated by feedback from those previously taught.
  4. Ability to mark effectively and consistently and to tight schedules, and to use standardised measures appropriately.
  5. Exceptional ability to communicate the theory and practice of evidence-based psychological therapies. These communication skills must be both written and verbal.  The post holder must be able to communicate with a range of project stakeholders at all levels from students to senior NHS and University managers, and work effectively as part of a team.
  6. Ability to understand where difficulties may arise with implementing evidence-based psychological therapies with adults, ability to work with clinicians from all backgrounds with a variety of experience to troubleshoot these difficulties.
  7.  Ability to use the full range of MS Office packages.
  8. Ability to critically evaluate own clinical and teaching work.
  9. Exceptional organisational ability.
