We are seeking to appoint post-graduate research students as Hall Mentor who will, under the direction of the Warden of Hall, proactively take responsibility for the day-to-day pastoral and welfare care of students within the Hall.  Working closely with the wider welfare team and the Student Hall Committee, you will support students in settling into halls, assist them in resolving issues that arise, and signpost them to further support should this be required.

In return for undertaking these duties successful applicants will receive a pay rate of £14.83 per hour (gross payment) plus payment of 12.07% annual leave. Hall Mentors are expected to live in halls for which a single persons en-suite study bedroom, housed where possible with other Hall Mentors, will be provided at the relevant rent rate.
You will have:
-    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to approach things in a consistent, calm and mature way.
-    Experience of working as part of a team and within a similar pastoral role supporting students or young people.
-    The ability to defuse potentially difficult situations and show initiative whilst under pressure.
-    Be undertaking a postgraduate-research qualification at the University of Reading.
