The appointment will be on a fixed-term full-time basis to commence as soon as possible and to run to 31st June 2022. 

 

The Computer Science Department is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the EU-funded project Critical-Chains, (https://research.reading.ac.uk/critical-chains/), which is led by the Department  The project will deliver an innovative secure cloud-based “X-as-a Service” solution stack including Blockchain, Flow Modelling, Biometrics-enabled AAA and Cyber-Security Framework within an integrated intelligent systems platform to support the future Fintech, Open Banking and Insurtech security, integrity and auditability.

 

Candidates will be expected to be qualified at the level of PhD/MSc Computer Science (CS) or exceptionally could be a1st Class Honours (CS) graduate with oral and written communication skills and outstanding programming capability evidenced by a strong software engineering background including 2-years work experience involving advanced software engineering e.g. as in IoT-enabled Intelligent Systems development. 

 

Additionally candidates will have research interest and knowledge of AI & Data Science techniques, specifically involving the design and implementation of Machine Learning and data mining algorithms e.g., applications of DeepLearn/GraphLearn/StreamLearn. Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage: i) BlockChain in particular Smart Contracts; ii) Secure Cyber-Physical (Web-Services) Integration; iii) Cyber-Physical Systems Privacy Engineering; iv) DevOPs.
