We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and flexible individual to join the Maintenance Services team as our Deputy Head of Building Maintenance (Electrical/Project Handover). As part of this role the successful candidate will have the broad electrical experience and the technical competence to act as the University’s senior electrical engineer, with specific responsibility for the management of our low voltage (LV) networks and oversite of our high voltage (HV).

You will be required to act as the main point of contact for project handovers from various teams, ensuring that our statutory obligations and technical standards are met. You should be able to work effectively with maintenance managers, project design teams and contractors to ensure that the University estate is safe, reliable & fit for purpose.

You should be self-sufficient and able to prioritise your own workload to ensure that safety and operationally critical work is carried out on time.

To reach the short list for interview you will need to demonstrate in you application:

  • A proven record and experience of High Voltage networks & Low Voltage electrical systems and distribution
  • Knowledge of High Voltage networks
  • An understanding of building engineering services (mechanical and electrical)
  • Knowledge and experience of project handover requirements
  • Awareness of current statutory requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • A relevant qualification in an electrical engineering discipline
  • An understanding of Health & Safety and how to apply in a varied estate
  • Good IT Knowledge with experience of using CAFM systems and Microsoft Office package
