Technical Services at the University of Reading offers an opportunity to join the team providing teaching and research support services in the Pharmacy, Process and Psychology Division. Advertised as a part-time role, you’ll be working 22 hours a week for 1 year. You’ll be playing a key role in helping to setup Chemistry practical classes as well as maintain our laboratories to a high standard. A great way to gain experience and make a valuable contribution. 

We seek an enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail to join our team of Chemistry technicians.
Your responsibilities will include the for creation of simple solutions, buffers and diluents, gathering and laying out consumables for practical classes as well as being an integral part of ensuring our classes are ready on time. You will be helping to team with tasks such as setting up benchtop equipment, transporting items between laboratories and general good housekeeping of our teaching laboratories. 

A highly varied role suited for applications who are interested in helping others wherever they see the opportunity.

Your application should demonstrate, in specific detail, how you meet the following essential criteria:

•    Good general education to equivalent of GCSE, NVQ2, City and Guilds in scientific subject e.g. Biology, Chemistry or General Science.

•    Able to effectively plan and prioritise allocated work activities on a day to day basis

•    Able to solve a range of problems by responding to varying circumstances, whilst working within standard procedures.

•    Good working knowledge of health and safety policy and procedures affecting self and others
