The Global Recruitment team (within Global Recruitment and Admissions) is responsible for the recruitment of undergraduates and postgraduates and for widening participation.
In this role you will be responsible for the project management and delivery of effective recruitment and outreach activity aimed at encouraging quality applications to the University of Reading from the UK, including activity aimed at increasing applications from those in under-represented groups. You will offer information to prospective students about high education generally, and the University of Reading specifically, and will have a responsibility for the organization of subject-specific events, both in person and digitally to promote related courses to prospective students and their advisors.
Your role will divide into three parts; acting as the link officer for a number of University departments taking responsibility for helping them deliver activity to meet recruitment and widening participation targets across their courses; contributing to the delivery of a programme of ‘Information, Advice and Guidance’ talks to students in schools and colleges; and leading on a suite of communications and activity for teachers and advisors across the university of Reading course portfolio.
The role involves working at pace in a fast-moving environment; managing projects and resources; personally representing and ‘selling’ the University to potential students and their parents and teachers; and building and maintaining strong networks of internal and external stakeholders.
- Very strong presentation and audience engagement skills with students aged 11-18
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of people
- Good knowledge of the issues faced by the higher education sector and how the student recruitment cycle works in the UK
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Understanding of UK 11–18 education
- Excellent written communication skills
