The University of Reading is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (permanent teaching-intensive contract) to provide high quality teaching and contribute to the development, delivery, enhancement and administration of programmes and modules in the Department of Computer Science. Specific expertise and experience in one or more of these fields are required: Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Mining, Data Visualisation and Big Data Analytics.

The Department of Computer Science is part of the School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences. The research in the Department is organized into three themes, which collectively represent our applied and interdisciplinary approach to data and computational science: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI), Computational Vision (CV), and Advanced Computing for Environmental Science (ACES). The Department has a focused and consistent set of modern programmes in Computer Science. The BSc Computer Science regularly recruit solid cohorts of students and has a very successful industrial placement year option thanks to strong links to local high-tech companies. The MSc Data Science and Advanced Computing offers an outstanding T&L experience and attracts international students as well as local professionals interested in a career development in Data Science and Machine Learning. The Department is also actively involved in the significant transnational initiative of the University of Reading with the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) with the new BSc Data Science starting in 2021-22.
