A talented and enthusiastic researcher is invited to work on an interdisciplinary project on human curiosity, decision making, and learning under the supervision of Dr. Kou Murayama, funded by Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant. This project provides a unique opportunity to examine how human curiosity biases our decision making and learning.

The successful candidate will be part of Motivation Science Lab (http://koumurayama.com/), an interdisciplinary research team which examines the nature of human motivation using a variety of methodologies such as behavioural experiments, longitudinal data collection, neuroimaging, computational modelling, etc. The lab environment provides researchers with invaluable experiences to learn and discuss motivation from multidisciplinary perspectives.

In this position, the successful candidate will have a variety of duties including designing studies jointly with the PI (mainly behavioural experiments but we can consider neuroimaging studies), programming experiments, analysing data, and writing academic papers. The successful candidate is also expected to transfer and share programming and analysis skills in our lab.

The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading was ranked in the top 20 (15th) in the UK in its unit of assessment in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework based on research power.
