We seek a motivated and versatile post-doctoral researcher to join the Applied Economics and Marketing Department to work on a 5-year BBSRC funded project to model impacts resulting from future changes to the UK food system, designed to benefit disadvantaged communities. The likely impacts to be modelled include those to food prices and demand, as well as land use and other environmental impacts throughout the life cycles of selected food products. The project would provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain experience of a diverse range of agricultural and food economics research challenges and techniques and potentially develop your own skills and research interests that align to the project.

You will have:

  • Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation etc) and collaborative skills;
  • Excellent Organisational and Administrative skills including a proven ability to work to deadlines and to work independently;
  • A PhD in Agricultural economics, food economics, Agriculture, or a related discipline, or 5 years’ experience working at a similar academic level in a related discipline;
  • Knowledge and experience of at least one field within quantitative economics , such as econometrics or systems modelling;
  • Experience in data management, data presentation and statistical analysis;
  • Experience writing research findings for publication in peer reviewed journals;
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative;
  • Willingness to work selflessly and flexibly in a team;
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines;
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
