The Computer Science Department is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the EU-funded project Critical-Chains, (, which is led by the Department  The project will deliver an innovative secure cloud-based “X-as-a Service” solution stack including Blockchain, Flows Modelling, Biometrics-enabled AAA and Cyber-Security Framework within an integrated intelligent systems platform to support the future Fintech, Open Banking and Insurtech security, integrity and auditability.


The appointment will be on a fixed-term full-time basis to commence as soon as possible and to run for 20 months (possibly extendable to 24 months). 


Candidates will be expected to be qualified at the level of PhD/MSc Computer Science (CS) or exceptionally could be a1st Class Honours (CS) graduate with excellent oral and written communication skills and high level of programming capability evidenced by a strong software engineering background including some work experience involving Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled software engineering e.g. Web Services Systems development.  Additionally Candidates will have knowledge of AI & Data Science techniques, specifically involving the design and implementation of Machine Learning and Data Mining algorithms; particularly Data Stream Mining.   Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage: i) Smart Contracts; ii) DevOps; iii) Secure Cyber-Physical Systems Integration.
