We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Cleaning Services Manager for an interesting and varied role in the Cleaning Services Department within the University’s Campus Services/Estates Function. Reporting to the Cleaning Services Manager, the role will have management responsibility for a team of Cleaning Operatives (both permanent and contracted) at our Science Park and our Main Library, The Assistant Cleaning Services Manager will also have responsibility to assist in the growth and maintenance of the service to ensure Service Level Agreements and objectives are achieved and to ensure the University’s academic estate is kept clean and hygienic at all times.

The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and experienced in Cleaning Services Industry practices with experience of working with and supervising a diverse range of staff.  Astute, proactive, customer focused and empathetic with an ability to relate well to university colleagues, students and visitors you will be capable of motivating your team to achieve and provide the best service they can.

You will:
•    Have strong effective communication skills with people at all levels, both written and oral with excellent command of spoken and written English and demonstrating diplomacy and perception.
•    Have substantial experience and knowledge of working in a cleaning services environment in a large complex organisation in a supervisory capacity
•    A good understanding and sound working practice of Health & Safety policies and procedures relating to Cleaning.  Have BICSc/COPC Stage 1 or NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning Sciences.
•    Have experience of successful team management and demonstrate working knowledge and awareness of Service Level Agreements.
•    Have excellent organisational, administration and prioritisation skills to work to and meet deadlines
•    Proven IT Skills and abilities to be able to assist with the production of clear and concise reports and statistical information.
•    Be an advocate of change, a team builder, team player and motivator and to be able to demonstrate a strong customer service delivery ethos
•    Hold a Full UK Driving licence and be willing to drive University Vehicles as part of the role.
