The postholder will conduct research as part of the new DARE-UK (Detection and Attribution of Regional greenhouse gas Emissions in the UK) consortium project.   The aim of DARE-UK is to estimate greenhouse gas emissions and improve the accuracy of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory reports.  The focus of this role will be on improving the representation of turbulence in atmospheric dispersion models, which are vital for linking estimated greenhouse gas fluxes with atmospheric observations. You will need the ability to understand and interrogate complex atmospheric models and the enthusiasm to exploit links with other members of the consortium. 

 

You will have:

•    or shortly expect to obtain, a PhD in atmospheric science, or a closely related subject (e.g. in physics or mathematics).
•    Ability to write and adapt computer programs and analyse the output. 
•    Some experience with research, writing research papers, giving conference presentations
•    The ability to collaborate constructively and proactively with both internal and external collaborators
