Reading School of Pharmacy is seeking a dynamic new appointee to join a successful Pharmacology group where they will undertake cutting edge research and contribute innovative teaching.

The University of Reading is building on its highly successful research profile within the School of Pharmacy through the appointment of a new post at the Lecturer or Associate Professor level in Pharmacology. For this research and teaching post, the new appointee will be expected to undertake high quality, grant funded research allied to areas of expertise within the Pharmacology division, including, but not restricted to, therapeutics of CNS/neurodegenerative disease, cardiovascular pharmacology, stem cell biology/ translational medicine; knowledge of animal models of disease related to any of these areas is also welcomed. Applicants should demonstrate internationally competitive research expertise (with an acknowledged international reputation for an Associate Professor appointment), and an appropriate track record of innovation in their field. The appointee will also provide high quality and innovative teaching within the broad remit of therapeutics and contribute to integrated teaching across the School of Pharmacy. The appointee will assume appropriate administrative roles. 

You will have:

•    A track record or commitment to build and sustain an internationally excellent programme of research in the division of Pharmacology, including high quality research outputs and appropriate research funding; 
•    The ability to supervise research staff and PhD students; 
•    Where appropriate (depending on precise research area and expertise), the ability to contribute to research impact and associated external (e.g. industrial) links; 
•    The ability to contribute to and enhance teaching programmes in MPharm and MSc programmes in Pharmacology and related areas; 
•    A commitment to developing innovative and cross disciplinary teaching activities
•    The ability to use and develop IT resources to support student learning;
•    A commitment to support and encourage students’ academic, personal and professional development, particularly through the personal tutor role; 
•    The ability to take a share at an appropriate level of administrative tasks as required to support the core work of the department;
•    A PhD in an aspect of Pharmacology or a related field

For applicants at Associate Professor, evidence of a sustained contribution at a senior level will be required (which may include grant funding, publications and other research outputs such as impact, supervision of postgraduate students and other relevant markers of esteem).
