We seek to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a British Heart Foundation funded project investigating mechanisms that have a profound effect on regulation of blood pressure and blood flow. You will be investigating the mechanism by which omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and their structural analogues can activate vascular ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP) to evoke vasodilator responses.

We offer access to state of the art facilities including dedicated imaging and electrophysiological facilities and collaborative links within the Institute Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research (ICMR) at Reading University and with the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University London.  

You will have:
•    Demonstrable laboratory experience and expertise with excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills as well as being able to keep meticulous laboratory notes
•    A PhD (or soon to obtain PhD) in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry or other relevant Biomedical life science
•    Knowledge of areas important to the project e.g. cellular and molecular biology, electrophysiology/ion channel function.
•    Laboratory experience in a relevant research environment ideally with one or more of the following techniques e.g. cell culture and cell transfection; western blotting, RT-PCR; electrophysiological techniques particularly patch clamp; myography
•    Good presentation and writing skills, an ability to work independently and part of team. Be enthusiastic, motivated and have a willingness to learn new techniques     
•    Be prepared to work occasionally at the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London

We will provide full training in any areas and techniques detailed above; those with extensive experience in these would be at an advantage.
