The University of Reading Library is looking for a proactive, flexible and well organised Acquisitions Co-ordinator to oversee the everyday work of our core Acquisitions section within the Library’s Collections Services Team (based in the Library, Whiteknights Campus).

The Acquisitions Co-ordinator will have specific responsibility for co-ordinating and overseeing the order and receipt of books, periodicals and other materials to ensure that materials required for teaching and research are available in the Library in a timely manner. You will be responsible for evaluating and developing workflows to manage resource acquisition, including providing training and support for a number of Library Assistants within the team. You will also line manage a number of Collections Services Library Assistants.

This role will work closely with the Reading List Co-ordinator to share priorities and workflows and support one another in the provision of materials for teaching in particular; as well as with the wider Collections Team, the Content Manager, and the Academic Liaison Team.

You will have:

  • The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively and work to and meet deadlines
  • The ability to work on a range of tasks concurrently and to move between tasks as required
  • Good IT skills, including good proficiency with using Office 365 applications and the ability to learn more
  • The ability to work effectively within a team, to liaise with teams across the Library and with external suppliers
  • Analytical skills and an evidence-based approach to problem solving
  • An adaptable, flexible approach
  • A Higher Education degree or equivalent
