The Institute for Environmental Analytics (https://www.the-iea.org) is a world-leading big data analytics centre based at the University of Reading. The IEA focuses on applied R&D and the development of innovative products and services based on data science. The IEA has a strong entrepreneurial culture and in three years has built an international portfolio of projects in areas such as renewable energy modelling and environmental risk quantification
In order to match our continued expansion, we are looking to grow our analytics team and seek up to four ambitious, talented and dedicated Data Analysts / Software Developers to work on a range of exciting pre-commercial projects with external clients. Besides outstanding technical qualifications and experience, candidates should be eager to learn, adaptable and motivated to turn scientific insight into solutions to real-world problems. In return we offer the chance to work on a broad range of fast-moving and intellectually stimulating projects with the opportunity to travel overseas.
Candidates may offer a mix of skills in both data analysis and software development, or may specialise in one or other of these disciplines. Opportunities are available at both junior (Grade 6) and senior (Grade 7) level, depending on aptitude.
You will have:
• A good degree in a quantitative science subject, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong programming skills Python or JavaScript
• A creative mindset and a professional manner
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
