The Careers Centre at the University of Reading supports 15,000+ students across 33 departments. We’re looking for an outstanding Careers Consultant to deliver career learning and coaching, provide strategic consultancy to academic departments, oversee the University’s career mentoring scheme and to engage students in a contemporary and outcome-oriented way.

The University of Reading Careers team is looking to appoint a Careers Consultant. The purpose of the role is to develop and enhance the qualities of the Reading graduate, contributing to the University’s goal of moving into the Top 20 universities for employment outcomes. The post-holder will also be responsible for overseeing our award-winning Career Mentoring Scheme.

This a complex and varied role in which the post-holder will:

  • Provide high-volume careers learning workshops and 1-1 career coaching
  • Work closely with designated Schools and departments, developing and delivering work to enhance student employability;
  • Oversee the University’s Career Mentoring Scheme;
  • Provide consultancy, expert labour market analysis and advice for academics to enhance the skill development and employment outcomes of their students;
  • Play a full and collaborative role in the Careers Centre and contribute to the ongoing evolution and enhancement of the service.
  • Curate, analyse and communicate quantitative data relevant to their caseload

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent communicator – both written and orally and with a wide range of people. The successful candidate will have significant relevant CPD and training experience, including working with individuals, small and large groups and engaging students remotely. They will be a team-player, and confident in managing and prioritising a complex workload to meet objectives.
