A fixed term position for up to 24 months (depending on start date) to support the UrbanFluxes and CSSP- China research projects and other complementary urban climate/meteorology projects. Main responsibilities will be to maintain a network of meteorological instruments; to undertake data analysis to ensure data quality appropriate for project applications; and additional activities, as needed, to support the research of the group (contributing to reports etc).

You will have:

  • Experience of data processing for example for meteorology, hydrology and/or environmental science
  • Programming in Python, R, Fortran and/or MatLab
  • Bachelors or Masters in an appropriate subject (e.g. mathematics, meteorology, environmental science, physics, engineering, computer science) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and data processing
  • Good oral and written presentation skills
  • Computing and data management skills
  • Ability to prioritise urgent/ long term goals and to juggle tasks as priorities change
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • Good problem solving skills (e.g. instrument, programming problems)
  • Ability to communicate and work with project participants and stakeholder
  • Ability to keep the relevant people informed of the status of tasks and things that may require attention
  • Ability to travel to various sites
  • Ability to deal with respond to instruments needs at odd times (e.g. weekends)
