We are looking for friendly and outstanding Chefs who want to work in a creative environment with an emphasis on cooking from scratch to allow us to serve delicious and on-trend dishes that have been made with love. Our style of cooking ranges from cook to order to large dining halls to private dining and events – absolutely no ‘school dinners’ are served, ever!
Our love of food extends beyond our Catering operations and into research, with large Food Sciences and Agriculture departments, including farms, within the University. Our beef for example, is sourced from our own farms. We have ambitious plans to be the offering the best food within a UK University and you’ll be part of a team working towards this success. We offer sector-leading working conditions including a 36 hour week, flexible working arrangements, an excellent pension, up to 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter Closure, totalling around 38 days. We can work around school holidays and family commitments, including part-time hours, in most cases. There are frequent opportunities for career progression within our team.
You will have:
- Either experience, or a formal Chef qualification to demonstrate your ability to cook
- The ability to remain calm within the workplace and team player
- Adaptability and openness to try new ideas
- Good understanding and commitment to food safety
There is no formal interview for this post – successful candidates will need to attend a 1 on 1 practical session of around 4 hours with our team, this is conducted in a friendly manner and designed for you to show us what you can do and for you to ask us questions too. Please provide several dates and times you would be available (weekends and evenings are also acceptable).
If unsure of criteria, this can be taken from the person specification.
