It is the role of the Marketing, Communication and Engagement (MCE) function to provide expert, professional marketing, engagement and communication strategy and delivery. As part of a wider cross-institution Advancement Group, comprising Global Student Recruitment and Admissions (GRA), MCE works in a matrix management model to build the University’s reputation, brand and profile, and deliver robust, innovative and global campaigns to support recruitment and engagement goals.
The Head of Market Research and Engagement Services is responsible for leading and delivering a programme of market intelligence, market and competitor research and analysis and horizon scanning activity in order to enable evidence-based, strategic decision making on student recruitment marketing and targeting, brand and reputation building and market positioning and stakeholder engagement. The postholder will be the subject-matter expert in the team playing a critical role in determining market research priorities and improving our market research processes.
The role requires both strategic thinking and tactical delivery and will involve the development and undertaking of primary research and testing as well as analysis of a wide range of data sources. Working with MCE and GRA colleagues as well as those from other key Professional Services and Academic Schools, the role will also be vital in delivering high-level advice and guidance and providing insight and analysis to support institutional strategic decision-making including around portfolio development.
The post is also responsible for overseeing the work of the Engagement Services Team, which manages the institutional alumni and stakeholder engagement database and systems as well as undertaking analysis, research and insight work focussed on building and nurturing relationships for strategic partnership, fundraising, advocacy and influence.
You will have/be:
- Able to evidence outstanding skills and experience in market research, data analysis and insight interrogation for both strategic planning and delivery, including the management and delivery of primary research projects.
- A strategic thinker, you will have a proven ability in the use and translation of detailed data and insight to inform strategic decision making including experience of presenting your findings to a wide range of colleagues – commanding confidence at all levels.
- A resilient, personally motivated and highly collaborative team and project leader with strong relationship building and influencing skills.
Please note that interviews for this role will take place on Tuesday 21 February 2023. Interviews will include a short presentation to a group of colleagues with whom the successful postholder will work closely (details to be provided to all successful interview candidates) as well as a standard panel interview.
