The University of Reading is seeking an apprentice Information Communications Technician to join our Digital team based at the beautiful Whiteknights campus. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of communication and cloud technologies to support the delivery of services to University customers. This role provides a fantastic opportunity for those looking for their first role in technology to gain broad experience of working in a friendly and supportive IT team.

You will study for the Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship(Level 3 - Digital Communication pathway) with Farnborough College of Technology. You will attend college one day/ week and must be able to make your own transport arrangements.

Your role will be to support the provision of a robust and resilient IT infrastructure at the University, whether this be on premise connectivity or cloud service management. You will be working with Operations team members on the day to day monitoring and management of University services, tools and processes, and ensuring that appropriate action is taken in response to outages.

The Operations team underpins these new services, delivering essential systems and services across the infrastructure layer which provide the foundation for all IT services across the University.

We are looking for an Apprentice Information Communications Technician to join the team to provide this foundation and learn how to deliver expertise and innovation in an digitally evolving organisation.

You will have :

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/ C or above)
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/ C or above)
  • a minimum of 5 GCSE's Grade C/4 or above
  • ​​​​​​​a GCSE in Computer Science, or other IT qualification, is desirable but not essential
