Our current phase of recruitment includes multiple academic posts at Lecturer and Associate Professor Level. We are seeking new colleagues who can enhance both teaching and research, contributing to thriving cutting edge courses and excellent impactful research.

- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Advanced Computing for Environmental Science
- Computational Vision.
Our vision is that the Department of Computer Science will become a leading research centre in focused areas of Computer Science, such as Data Science and Computational Science, building on existing strengths and leveraging the research capability and critical mass within our wider School of Maths, Physical & Computational Sciences.
The Computer Science Department is playing a key role in applying its research expertise in collaborations and application areas across the University and externally. We are creating societal and commercial impact from our work, particularly within the Thames Valley, the Silicon Valley in the UK and you too could be part of it.
You will have:
- A track record which includes impactful publications in core computer science and/or relevant fields, and one or both of the acquisition of research funding and the establishment (and delivery) of substantial collaborative activities.
- Whilst the specific area of research is open, applications are particularly sought from those whose interests fall into one or more of the following areas:
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI),
- Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS)
- Computer Vision,
- Cloud Computing and Big Data,
- Software Engineering
- High Performance Computing,
- Parallel Computing.
- Commitment in and passion for teaching and learning in broad computer science areas, and supporting students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Ability to use initiative to problem solve issues effectively – including the ability to reflect on students’ learning experiences and address areas of concern
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage and work with a range of people as part of a team
Applicants for the Associate Professor roles will also have the experience in and/or demonstrate their potential to lead in research and/or teaching
