We are looking for an emerging academic leader, with a collegial approach, a growing international reputation, a passion for innovative teaching, and a commitment to shaping the future of research in international business and strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in one of the world’s most respected business schools — contributing to cutting-edge scholarship, mentoring colleagues, and helping to advance the department’s global reputation for excellence.
Henley Business School is a triple-accredited business school (AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB) and part of the University of Reading. We aspire to developing future-focused leaders who carve their own paths to pursue a better tomorrow. Our courses are aimed at students and professionals at every stage of their career – from undergraduate through to postgraduate, PhD, MBA, DBA and executive education.
The International Business and Strategy Department builds on more than six decades of excellence in research and teaching in international business at the University of Reading, and continues to lead the field through the Dunning Centre for International Business - one of the world’s premier centres for international business research. You will become part of a vibrant and distinguished community of scholars, including Mark Casson, Davide Castellani, Rajneesh Narula and Alain Verbeke, whose work continues to shape the discipline, alongside a dynamic group of emerging academics.
We welcome applications from academics who can demonstrate:
- a PhD in Management, International Business, Economics or other related fields
- a strong and sustained record of high-quality research published in leading academic journals and a growing reputation in the research community
- a research profile that complements and strengthens the Department and the Dunning Centre’s expertise
- proven experience of teaching and leadership at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the areas of international business and/or strategy, broadly defined
- a successful track record in securing external funding
The role will involve contribution to research, teaching and leadership, with opportunities to influence strategy, mentor colleagues, and shape the next generation of international business scholars.
Start date: August/September 2026
Members of our teams will be at the European International Business Academy Conference in Athens, 11-13 December 2025. Prospective candidates who will be at the conference are warmly invited to arrange an informal discussion about the role with Davide Castellani at d.castellani@henley.ac.uk.
