As part of our Estates Team, you’ll play a vital role in managing and maintaining our academic and research facilities. No two days are the same, and every day brings new challenges and opportunities.

The Role:

We are seeking a Reactive Maintenance Co-ordinator to play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our reactive and planned maintenance tasks, largely carried out by our in-house trades teams. This position is integral to the management and administration of our diverse portfolio of maintenance tasks, and it requires a blend of technical knowledge (ability to learn), organisational skills, and proactive problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitor and managing contracts: Assist in the scheduling and execution of maintenance tasks, ensuring contractor availability and timely attendance.
  • Administrative Support: Handle the administrative processes related to maintenance contracts, including raising purchase orders, tracking invoices, and maintaining detailed records.
  • Quality Control: Assist in reviewing inspection reports, coordinate remedial work, and ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with statutory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Independent Work: After your initial training, you’ll be expected to work with minimal supervision, prioritising and coordinating the work of multiple contractors to deliver high-quality results within the required timelines.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills. Experience in facilities management, maintenance coordination, or a related field is desirable, but not essential. Most importantly, you will have a proactive attitude and a commitment to ensuring the University’s facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

Why Join Us?

At the University of Reading, you’ll be part of a dynamic team that makes a real difference to the lives of our students, staff, and visitors. You’ll enjoy working on beautiful site, with access to excellent resources and a supportive community.

If you are ready to take on this rewarding challenge and contribute to the upkeep of our campuses, we would like to hear from you.
