An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Trainee Archive Assistant position starting in October 2025 at the University’s Special Collections and Museum of English Rural Life.

The role offers an ideal opportunity to gain a wide range of experience in a busy Special Collections before embarking on a career in archives and records management.

The Graduate Trainee Archive Assistant will have the opportunity to catalogue and rehouse archives to enhance their permanent preservation, training will be provided. They will also supervise access to collections to researchers via the Museum of English Rural Life and University of Reading Special Collections Reading Room


This post is fixed term for one year, 0.5FTE


You will have:


  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to providing a professional service for researchers
  • A high degree of computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Previous experience of working with archives.
