University of Reading Technical Services and the Institute of Education seek an experienced, motivated individual to support practical teaching in the sciences and other disciplines.

As a member of our team you will use your technical skills and practical insight to work with academic staff to design, implement and run teaching sessions aimed at helping students studying for degrees and other qualifications, such as PGCE, to develop their skills and become excellent classroom teachers.

You will support primarily activities related to Primary and Secondary School Science, but as a member of our versatile and flexible team, will also be asked to contribute to other disciplines taught by the Institute of Education and beyond.

You will have:

  • A generally good understanding of a broad range of scientific principles
  • Experience working in the Education sector, either Primary, Secondary, Further or Higher
  • Extensive technical work experience, acquired in relevant roles and job-related training
  • Knowledge of the principles of Health and Safety, related to teaching activities, including writing and reviewing risk assessments
