As well as being responsible for the management and maintenance of the University’s academic teaching and research buildings, we also care for a significant collection of Champion Trees, an expansive lake, and the university SportsPark.
We are seeking to appoint a Building Services Maintenance Apprentice to join the Campus Operations team, within Estates, who offer a reactive and planned maintenance service to University owned properties across all our campuses and sites.
You will be supported to learn how to carry out a variety of mechanical and plumbing basic reactive and planned maintenance tasks.
The role holder will assist in the provision an effective and prompt customer focussed, professional and efficient service to the University in accordance with its requirements, aims, objectives and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
You will be required to complete a 4 year 3 month training programme that will cover all aspects of the role and will be delivered through in-house training, as well as day-release or other distance learning methods delivered by Newbury College, or similar provider. You will complete a level 3 Building services engineering service and maintenance engineer Apprenticeship Building Services Engineering Service and Maintenance Engineer (Apprenticeship) which is within the Construction and Built Environment sector and you will gain Level 3 Building Services and Maintenance Engineer Qualification Building services engineering service and maintenance engineer / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

- Educated to GCSE standard (Maths and English Grade 4 or above) or equivalent, or working towards this
- Experience & knowledge of IT e.g. Microsoft Office applications and Smart devices e.g. iPad
- Ability to communicate messages clearly and accurately on the phone, by email and in person
- Able to demonstrate an aptitude for the skills taught in the Apprenticeship
- Full valid clean driving licence or will have reached this level by August 26
