Business Development Officer – Pharmacology Group, School of Pharmacy (Fixed Term 3 month contract)

We are to seeking a Business Development Officer to promote our antibody provision technical service at the University of Reading. More specifically, we have developed a bespoke service to provide specialised antibodies from llama and cows; these antibodies have unique properties and are much sought after by for structural biology and potential therapeutic use by research institutes and the pharmaceutical industry. We now seek to expand our service and are seeking a Business Development Officer to facilitate this expansion. In this role, you will spearhead the development of our antibody provision technical service through comprehensive market research, effective communication strategies, including social media engagement, and proactive networking activities by attending relevant events. You will work closely with the Knowledge Exchange & External Partnerships office (KEEP) to develop collaborations with industry partners, and contribute to funding applications to expand our initiatives. This role is designed as an initial 3 month fixed term contract, but will encourage and support applications for further funding, including personal awards via specific UKRI designated schemes in the commercialization area. We encourage PhD graduates and/or those with a clear interest in learning how to commercialize cutting-edge science and develop business management skills to apply.


• A PhD in life sciences or a closely related field.

• Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear presentations and reports.

• Ability to build on skills to develop market research skills to identify trends, opportunities, and potential clients.

• Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

• Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing.
