10-month maternity cover

The Careers Centre at the University of Reading is seeking a Careers Information and Events Assistant to work as part of a job-share arrangement in our busy team. This varied role is key in planning, coordinating and delivering a range of careers events including careers fairs, employer presentations, an annual workshop programme and bespoke events.

We need someone who excels in customer service and can manage a varied workload and conflicting priorities. The successful candidate will focus mainly on events but will also support the wider work of the team, specifically spending a few hours a week staffing our reception services.

Working in a Careers Centre environment, opportunity for development is at your fingertips and the role would suite a recent graduate, current PhD student as well as more experienced individuals.

You will have:

  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel;
  • Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Organisation skills and the ability to prioritise;
  • Experience of working in a customer-focussed environment;
  • Interest in graduate recruitment and a motivation to go the extra mile to help our students work towards their dream job.

Please take a look at the detailed job description via the link before completing an application. The two main working days are fixed due to the job share arrangements. The remaining half day can be decided on to suit both parties. After completion of a successful induction, the half day may be completed remotely, with 2 days in the office.

Closing date - 23rd March 2025
