Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Turbulence Evaluation in Complex Terrain using TEAMx project (https://www.teamx-programme.org/) at the University of Reading. The focus of this post is to evaluate the representation of turbulent processes in high-resolution simulations over the complex orography of the European Alps using new observations taken during the TEAMx observational campaign. The postholder will have the unique opportunity to participate in the observation campaign during Summer 2025.

You will have:

  • Have (or shortly expect to obtain) a PhD in atmospheric science, statistics, or a closely related subject (eg. in physics or mathematics) or equivalent research experience.

  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.

  • Strong communication skills to disseminate findings to the wider scientific community.


You will work with other researchers in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading, one of the world’s largest research centres focusing on the science of weather and climate, and with partners including the University of East Anglia, Met Office, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Innsbruck. v
