Job Description


The Doctoral and Researcher College acts as hub for all doctoral level activity at the University as well as providing support and training for doctoral researchers.  Within the Doctoral and Researcher College, the Doctoral Research Office provides a support service to all current doctoral research students and networks widely across the University interacting with all Schools/Departments and administrative units.  We are looking for a team player to join our small but busy office.

The post-holder will be part of the team responsible for providing an effective, timely, professional, advisory support and administrative service for all current Postgraduate Research (PGR) Students and related staff. Working with the University’s Head of the International Student Advisory and Home Office Compliance, the post holder will take responsibility for the day to day running of compliance reporting and assurances required to maintain the University’s compliance in relation to the Home Office Sponsor Guidance and requirements, specifically relating to PGR students. The post holder will also look after all aspects of PGR Students records making sure fees are correct. Adjusting records for suspensions, extensions, and withdrawals, considering fee recalculations, refunds and instructing stipend adjustments. The post holder will also have the responsibility of communications with outside bodies such as local authorities and sponsors.


You will have:

  • Ability to understand and follow regulations and processes
  • Experience of working with rules and regulations or within published polices and processes
  • Good attention to detail, high level of accuracy and methodical working
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Good IT skills; familiar with use of MS Word/Excel and databases
  • Ability to work well with students from a range of different cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to exercise judgement and make decisions   
  • Excellent written and spoken communication and administrative skills
