Job Description

Three-year post-doctoral research assistant role within the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading.
Applications are invited for a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in Psychology to join Dr Katie Gray’s Social Vision Group at the University of Reading, to work on a Leverhulme Trust funded research project on emotion processing in social contexts. The aim of this project is to explore the perception of, and responses to, emotional agents presented within social interaction contexts. We are seeking a highly-capable and highly-motivated researcher with excellent organisational, interpersonal, and analytical skills to make a positive contribution to this project.
The successful candidate will have:
•    excellent organisation and project management skills, and an ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail; 
•    excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in collaboration with other project members;
•    extensive experience of running psychology experiments with adults, especially those using visual psychophysics, and/or virtual reality;
•    extensive experience of data visualisation and statistical analysis;
•    a PhD (or soon to obtain a PhD) in Psychology or closely related discipline.

The Social Vision Group is part of The School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading. There are three complementary research themes within the School (psychopathology & affective neuroscience; cognitive science; personalised nutrition and applied research), NHS clinics (Anxiety & Depression; Speech & Language Therapy), an independent Centre for Autism and the Charlie Waller Institute. It is also home to the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics.


The post is available on a Fixed Term contract for 36 months.
