Job Description

Are you passionate about finance and looking to make a meaningful impact in higher education? We are seeking a skilled and motivated Finance Support Officer to join our dynamic Executive Support Team within the School of Agriculture, Policy, and Development (SAPD).

In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality financial and administrative support, ensuring that the School's financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will be a key player in enhancing our services, developing new processes, and implementing service improvements to support both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Administration: Perform day-to-day financial tasks, including approving and raising requisitions, authorizing orders, processing BIF journal transfers, and handling queries related to school accounts.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist the Executive Administration Manager with regular financial reporting, helping to resolve queries, correct errors, and provide financial guidance to budget holders.
  • Research Grant Support: Act as the first point of contact for research grant holders, offering support in liaising with Research and Costings, providing monthly financial analysis, and ensuring accurate financial projections.

You will have:

  • Strong Financial Administration Experience: Demonstrated expertise in financial administration, including experience with financial systems, budget monitoring, and end-of-year financial procedures.
  • Understanding of University Systems: A solid understanding of university financial policies, procedures, and systems, with the ability to effectively communicate and implement these within the school.
  • Attention to Detail and Analytical Skills: Proven ability to manage complex financial data with high accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose improvements to existing processes.
