Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate for this exciting opportunity to join the University’s Museums and Collections Services (UMASCS). The Systems and Metadata Administrator will support and develop information systems, technologies and metadata used to manage and make available the University’s extraordinarily diverse range of objects, archives and photographic images. This will include managing day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, system development, staff support and training. The post holder will establish and maintain links with system suppliers, relevant customer user groups and other University staff on systems related matters and will contribute to planning and policymaking.

Part of the Innovation and Research Directorate, UMASCS is based at St Andrew’s Hall, which houses the Museum of English Rural Life and the Special Collections Services, situated at the University’s London Road campus.

You will have:

  • Higher Education degree or equivalent
  • Excellent Information Technology skills (familiarity with Windows operating systems and a desire to learn new ones)
  • Familiarity with the use and management of collections management systems and discovery systems
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and fault-finding skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to interpret and relay technical information to colleagues in a comprehensible manner
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to agreed deadlines
