Job Description

The University of Reading’s International Study & Language Institute is looking a full-time Lecturer to teach Foundation Business on its Foundation Year (FHEQ Level 3) programmes. 

You will be joining a team of Lecturers in range of subjects including English, Academic Skills, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science. Foundation Year are a busy and experienced team, and you will be expected to work effectively alongside others in a collaborative environment while adhering to all relevant University policies and procedures.

As the Foundation Year is a preparatory programme of study for undergraduate education, we are looking for someone who can create and deliver interesting and engaging lessons and materials which encourages the participation of a diverse cohort of students, can co-ordinate/convene modules and can design formative and summative assessment. 


 You will have,

  1. Be able to work in the UK and have availability to work full-time on campus when required.
  2. An undergraduate degree in Business, Management or relevant subject.
  3. Postgraduate qualification e.g., MA or M.Ed. in a relevant field (or equivalent) 
  4. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (at least at AFHEA level) or other teaching qualification e.g., PGCE, PGCHEP.
  5. Excellent knowledge of subject specialism (i.e., Business & Management)
  6. Knowledge and experience of FHEQ Level 3 teaching and curriculum in relevant subject areas.
  7. Excellent written and spoken English language. 
  8. Experience of creating and delivering interesting and engaging lessons and materials for diverse cohorts of students.
  9. Have experience of delivering high quality teaching and academic support to a diverse cohort of FHEQ Level 3 students in UK higher education or equivalent.
  10. Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and challenges of young adult learners e.g., from a range of diverse nationalities, cultures, educational backgrounds and academic abilities.
  11. Experience of leading teaching or module convening/coordination.
  12. Experience of course design and delivery including blended/remote teaching techniques.
  13. Experience of UK higher education academic practices, values, and conventions. 
  14. Engage with continued professional development activities.
