Occupying three beautiful campuses (Whiteknights, with its early 19th century planned landscape, London Road with its formal gardens and ceremonial Great Hall, and Greenlands, Henley-on-Thames, with its riverside garden landscape) the unique “University within a Park” setting of the University of Reading is an inspiring place to come to work.

Be part of a team that is responsible for the management and maintenance of the grounds surrounding the academic teaching and research buildings and sports facilities but also cares for a significant collection of trees, meadows, woodlands and lakeside environments. Be part of a team that is continually adapting maintenance techniques to boost biodiversity within its maintenance areas. This post is predominantly based at Whiteknights Campus but you will be expected to work in other areas when required. You will have:

  • A willingness to learn and actively participate in any training provided
  • Experience in carrying out grounds maintenance tasks, preferable in a commercial setting
  • Experience in the safe use of common grounds maintenance tools and machines
  • A valid full UK unrestricted driving licence enabling you to drive light vans
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety practices and expectations
  • Experience of team working

You will be :

  • Able to undertake lifting, machine use and other manual handling tasks
  • Able to work outside all year in a range of environments
