Job Description

Purpose
The Department of Economics welcomes application for two positions of Lecturer (Teaching Intensive) to contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of the Department.  The post-holder will also undertake undergraduate research supervision as appropriate, and contribute to student support, outreach and general administration duties within the department.

The Department of Economics is part of the School of Philosophy, Politics and Economics (SPPE). The School and the Department have an established reputation for inter-disciplinary research, and members are collaborating with colleagues from schools across the university.  Main duties and responsibilities
The post-holders will be expected to:

  • Convene modules on the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, develop and apply effective teaching methods, materials, and assessment techniques, while being conscious of culture, equality and diversity.
  • Support and encourage students’ academic, personal and professional development, particularly through the Academic Tutor role.
  • Undertake some administrative/outreach/widening participation duties within the School.
  • Supervise undergraduate student dissertations and research projects.
